Job Description:

Construction Supervision & Quality Control

  • Ensure all works are executed according to the approved drawings, technical specifications, contract requirements, and industry standards.
  • Inspect all construction materials delivered to site and verify compliance with specifications.
  • Ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly where defects are identified.
  • Supervise are verify the testing and commissioning of completed facilities and systems before acceptance.
  • Review contractor work plans and construction schedules.
  • Monitor compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Assist in site inspections and work measurement to facilitate the processing of contractors’ payment requests.
  • Ensure contractors adhere to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and social safeguarding policies.

 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate with local authorities, project staff, contractors, and community representatives.
  • Support community sensitization relating to construction activities where required.
  • Prepare daily site inspection notes and records.

 

Technical Reporting

  • Prepare monthly technical progress reports for project management.
  • Provide updates on variations, delays, claims, risks, and quality concerns.
  • Support preparation of completion reports and handover documentation.
  • Maintain accurate geo-referenced and photographic evidence of construction progress.
  • Compile documentation required for donor accountability, audits, and project evaluations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Irrigation Engineering, Agricultural Engineering (Water and Soil Option), Construction Engineering.
  • Registration with KETRB, or other relevant professional body will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 2 years' demonstrable experience in construction supervision and inspection of water infrastructure, pumping systems, pipelines, or similar civil engineering projects.
  • Proven experience in quality control, measurement and verification of works and processing of Contractor’s Payment Applications.
  • Experience working on donor-funded, NGO, government, or community-based infrastructure projects involving rural water supply, irrigation, climate resilience, or natural resource management programmes is highly desirable.
  • Practical knowledge of occupational health and safety (OHS) standards, environmental and social safeguards, and construction quality assurance procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and review engineering drawings, Bills of Quantities (BoQs), technical specifications, and construction schedules.
  • Proficiency in preparing site inspection reports, progress reports, quantity verification records, and project documentation.
