Duties and Responsibilities

This position is located within the Communications and Results Reporting Section (CRRS) of the United Nations Development Coordination Office (DCO) Headquarters in New York. To ensure a United Nations that is fit-for-purpose to deliver on the ambition of the SDGs, the General Assembly adopted the most far-reaching development reforms in the history of the organization in May 2018. At the core of resolution 72/279 was the establishment of a reinvigorated, independent, impartial, and empowered Resident Coordinator (RC) system to support a new generation of UN country teams (UNCTs). DCO oversees managerial and oversight functions of the Resident Coordinator system under the collective ownership of the members of the United Nations Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG). The position reports to a Communications Officer and is under the overall supervision of the Chief of CRRS. Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the incumbent will serve as a UNCT website support focal point, ensuring the day-to-day functioning, quality, and consistency of UN Country Team websites globally. This role is primarily operational, while contributing to a broader UN 2.0–driven shift toward more user-centered, data-informed, and AI-aware digital communications. The incumbent is expected to bring a proactive, service-oriented, and digitally curious mindset to the role. In addition to supporting day-to-day website operations, the consultant should demonstrate interest in evolving digital communications trends and contribute constructively to the UN’s broader UN 2.0 transformation efforts. Content Management • Upload and update text, images, and multimedia content on UNCT websites as requested. • Ensure content is formatted correctly, tagged, and compliant with UN branding and accessibility standards. • Support multi-language content updates and basic translation and content adaptation as needed. Website Maintenance and Quality Assurance • Conduct regular quality assurance checks, including broken links, missing images, and page responsiveness. • Flag and follow up on technical issues with relevant teams. • Monitor site uptime and report technical issues promptly to the technical team or vendor. • Support with basic troubleshooting for CMS-related issues. User Support • Act as a first point of contact for UNCT website focal points globally. • Respond to queries and provide practical guidance on content updates and CMS use. • Share simple how-to materials and tips to improve consistency across sites. Basic Monitoring • Track website performance indicators (e.g., traffic, engagement), using Google Analytics or similar tools and provide simple monthly summaries. • Prepare simple summaries and flag recurring issues or trends for escalation. • Supporting the Digital Transformation • Support ongoing efforts to improve how UN content is structured and presented online. • Assist in testing and applying improvements aimed at better usability and visibility across digital platforms. • Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing as the system evolves toward more integrated and AI-aware communications approaches. .
