Key Responsibilities:
The Field and Emergency Communications Specialist (Mindanao Field Office) is responsible in gathering, development and delivering evidence-based, child and community-focused contents that capture and highlight issues facing vulnerable children and families, and impact and technical expertise of World Vision’s development programs/interventions, advocacies, and emergency/disaster response to reflect positive change or results.
This is an open-ended post is based in Davao City.
Major Responsibilities:
- Gathering field and emergency communications content to support the organization’s ministry, public engagement and resource development goals.
- Utilizing World Vision content platforms like Content Flow, StoryHub, wvrelief.net, GC emergency Skype chat room/s to coordinate with relevant clients and to deliver raw content such as but not limited to QAs, alerts, news/feature stories, videos, photos, Support office/media visits, etc.).
- Providing support to and collaborating intently with key internal teams including Operations (Field Office), Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs (HEA) and Resource Development to gather ministry and fundraising-related content in the area programmes.
- Assisting the Field & Emergency Communications Officer in dealing with the field content and emergency/DRR communications related concerns within his/her area of responsibility and performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Development of Mass Communications/Journalism or equivalent.
- At least 3 years in a similar position or capacity.
- Preferably with industry experience in news and media agencies, advertising, and/or NGO humanitarian work.
- Experience with NGO or humanitarian work especially during disasters or emergencies highly preferred.
- High analytic, reporting and presentation skills.
- High media engagement skills and experience; able to face the fiercest of media (or the camera).
- Extensive and/or relevant network for potential media/donor/partnerships.
- Security training highly preferred.
- Can work with tight deadlines.
- People-oriented, detail-oriented, creative and resourceful.
- Capable to travel and visit World Vision area programmes within the country to accompany media and influencers, if necessary.
