Job Description
CONTEXT
The Global Health and Humanitarian Medicine (GHHM) course is a part-time, online course. It is run by Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) to provide affordable, global access to high-quality education in Global Health.
We’ve developed the course with international academics, MSF staff, clinicians and medical experts to provide outstanding teaching.

JOB PURPOSE
The key responsibility of this position is to coordinate implementation of the Global Health and Humanitarian Course in South Asia. The incumbent would be overall accountable for smooth implementation of the course in South Asia and be a valuable member of the GHHM team across the UK and South Asia contributing to the wider GHHM strategic direction.
MAIN FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic coordination of the course at the South Asia site
- Act as the focal point for collaboration between the different stakeholders of the course. This includes but is not limited to:
a. Academic medical institutes of excellence (Christian Medical College – Vellore, Manipal Academy of Higher Education – Manipal, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research - Puducherry.
b. MSF UK
c. MSF South Asia Section
d. OCs Learning & Development departments (alongside the wider GHHM team)
2. Explore additional academic institutes for future collaborations ensuring equitable access to the participants in the region.
Coordinate Course planning at the South Asia Site
1. Lead planning of the course content to ensure appropriate coverage of all modules of the GHHM syllabus:
a. Establish a course calendar inclusive of mutually agreed dates with the collaborator
b. Identify and invite relevant lecturers from the Asia/Pacific region to lecture on chosen topics
c. Help identify key speakers for lectures taken from the pool of MSF-South Asia field staff returning who work or have worked in projects relevant to the course
d. Review modules agreed upon by the Content Team and support the course content developer in appropriate coverage of the required topics.
e. Coordinate on conduct of webinars and moderation of the sessions.
2. Work with the Programme Manager and Content Team to develop a course curriculum that is representative of the Asia/Pacific region and source appropriate lecturers
a. Support the content team in the organisation of the ‘Basic microscopy and parasitology online training’.
b. Support the content team in the delivery of the GHHM end of course assessment.
c. Support and lead on the development and delivery of one to two of the GHHM teaching days.
d. Support the delivery of the GHHM revision weekend.
3. Ensure support to the course content developer in quality improvement and development of course modules:
a. Have an overview of the course content and support in content development through:
i. Contributing content for GHHM course modules including online work
ii. Contribute to the GHHM Best of Five Question Bank
iii. Identify external experts for supporting teaching on topics relevant to the programme, particularly of relevance to the Asia/Pacific region.
b. Ensure students have enough opportunity to feedback on the course and the same is taken into account at various steps of planning and implementation.
c. Support in resolution of students’ barrier to compliance with the course requirements.
Content development at GHHM SA
1. To play a key role as a member of the GHHM content team in identifying the strategic direction of content delivered by the GHHM programme.
2. To provide direction and support to the content developer on the South Asia team with regards to content development. Developer to ensure content produced meets GHHM standards.
Overall Course conduct
- Ensure overall conduct of the course in compliance with the advisory of the Finance and compliance committee of MSF UK
- Communications and Applications-
a. Work with the GHHM/Comms Working Group to ensure that course communications and promotions reach the target student population groups.
b. Ensure application launch and student selection in line with the GHHM Key Performance Indicators and GHHM Strategic Direction
3. To support the ongoing development of the GHHM Alumni platform through regular engagement, content development and strategic direction.
4. Oversee the recruitment of a pool of GHHM moderators from the GHHM alumni community
a. Ensure the recruitment of moderators is done in line with the UK recruitment of moderators
b. Ensure that all moderators sign a code of conduct
c. Oversee the SA Course content developers engagement of the moderators
Finance and compliance
1. Support the GHHM Programme Manager with the development of GHHM’s annual plan, contribute to annual planning workshops and be the focal point for annual planning relating to GHHM’s South Asia site.
2. Prepare a budget for GHHM’s South Asia operations in collaboration with the GHHM Project Manager. Ensure that the budget is prepared in advance of MSF UK budgeting deadlines ready for submission to the GHHM Programme Manager for approval.
3. Support the GHHM Project Manager with quarterly reforecasting, providing updates on any expected changes to expenditure ahead of reforecasting deadlines
4. Ensure timely and compliant reimbursement to the collaborating institutes for their support to the GHHM course.
5. Support the GHHM Project Manager with adherence to the guidelines of the MSF-south Asia Finance department for all matters concerning transactions related to the program. This includes but is not limited to GST and FCRA related issues.
6. With support from the GHHM Project Manager prepare external statutory reporting for the Finance and compliance committee.
Representation
1. Represent GHHM Course at the South Asia site in:
a. Internal meetings:
i. Team meetings
ii. Moderator meeting
iii. Planning meeting
iv. Information sessions to National and Expat staff
v. Information sessions to the office.
2. Alongside the GHHM Programme Manager, the site coordinator may need to represent GHHM at external meetings with academic collaborators.
Team Management
1. Ensure smooth functioning of the team and achievement of the respective KPIs.
2. Promote personal development
3. Be the focal point for resolution of any team-conflict at the GHHM South Asia site.
4. Responsible for the line management of the SA Content developer position
Additional Tasks
MSF is a humanitarian organization involved in emergency programs.
MSF staff are requested to be flexible and helpful and may be asked to perform additional activities whenever needed.

Requirements
Educational Qualifications & Functional / Technical Skills
- MBBS (Graduate Medical Doctor) – mandatory
- Completion of the Global Health and Humanitarian Medicine Course is mandatory
- Postgraduate Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene or the Diploma in Global Health is mandatory.
- MSF field experience as a manager is highly desirable
- Minimum of two years clinical experience post graduation.
- Masters degree in Tropical Medicine / Infectious Diseases / Public Health- highly desirable
- Experience in handling new online video-telephony and chat platforms.
- Experience in maintaining online learning platforms is highly desirable.
- Experience in developing medical content is highly desirable
- Proficient in Word processing, Operating Systems, Email, the internet, managing databases and spreadsheets
Relevant Experience
- 4-5 years’ of relevant work experience.
- Previous pedagogical experience is desirable.

· Contract duration is one year with a possibility of contract period extension.

· Compensation gross per month range USD 2581 to USD 3679 – (final salary will depend on the scaling of the CV as per MSF criteria)
· 13th Month bonus (equivalent to one month gross) will be additional.
