Overview of the role and responsibilities


 

 

 

PATH is a global nonprofit dedicated to achieving health equity. With more than 40 years of experience forging multisector partnerships and with expertise in science, economics, technology, advocacy, and dozens of other specialties, PATH develops and scales up innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing health challenges. 

 

 

About your division/team

 

Under the direction of the CEO & President, the Office of the

President works to guide PATH’s strategic approach internally and at global and country levels. PATH has set out to expand the scope of our respectful partnerships with national and local governments, with a view to enabling broader and deeper impact across the health sector. Partnerships across Europe and the EU are important funding partner enabling progress in the health sector at the national and local levels. In this context, PATH prioritized the strengthening of its work with EU and European stakeholders, with a view to (1) identify and structure specific areas of alignment and complementarity, (2) define PATH’s value proposition, and (3) expand the specific country‐based engagements. This intern will work with the Associate Partnerships Manager and the Head of Office of the President to support PATH’s partnership strategy with research, analysis and recommendations.

 

 

Description of the project the intern will complete

 

 

The intern will support the partnerships strategy in collecting data on the overall funding flows, landscape assessments, also reviewing the optimal way of storing, maintaining and sharing there resources across the organization. These insights will contribute to a comprehensive library of health opportunities in priority regions. Additionally, the intern will collaborate with the Project Manager to review and identify potential funding opportunities for PATH. The final deliverable will be a detailed library – with a maintenance plan and clear owners ensuring sustainability - that includes the health priorities, activities, and funding opportunities.

 

Description of the learning objectives and goals of the internship

 

  • Learn about nonprofit organizational development. 

  • Learn how to identify and analyze potential business development opportunities, contributing to strategic decision‐making.

  • Strengthen skills in research, synthesizing information, and identifying priorities.

  • Exposure and involvement in key priorities, strategy and operations associated with Office of the President at a nonprofit organization.

 

Proposed activities for the internship

 

  • Gather Intelligence: Collect data on priority partners, institutions (key focus being the EU) and geographies.

  • Contribute Findings to a Database: Advise on and develop the optimal set up for a centralized database of analytics for PATH’s partnership knowledge management and sharing.

  • Summarize trends: From desk research and stakeholder engagement, summarize trends for health funding in the European and EU space. 

  • Identify Funding Opportunities: Collaborate with the workstream project manager to review funding portals and analyze potential funding opportunities with multilateral development banks.

  • Supporting organizational effectiveness by supporting administrative items and partnership development needs of the Head of Office of the President.

The intern will gain practical experience to strengthen their analytical and research skills, and learn more about nonprofit organizational partnerships development, and gain exposure to the senior management priorities, strategy and rhythm of business. 

 

 

Description of skills and experience the intern should have

 

 

 Students in public health, economics, political science, international relations, business, or related field preferred.

 Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with desk research experience. 

Proven experience in analytical and business intelligence to help influence decisions.

 Demonstrated experience in project management, including setting a clear vision, planning, monitoring, timely execution and high-quality delivery.      

 Professional experience working in global health, health sciences and/or health technology with an international outlook. Preferred to have global, cross-cultural understanding and experience with working with people from different countries or regions.

 Experience and ability to advance efficiencies using AI.

 Highly motivated, positive proactive approach, process driven, results oriented with ability to assume responsibility.

 Proactive problem solver with a proven ability to thrive in environments characterized by multi-tasking, ambiguity and rapid change, with track record of increasing responsibilities in competitive environments.

 Excellent communications skills with a professional and proactive demeanor accommodating senior leadership needs, intellectual curiosity, resourceful, organized, self-driven.
