Founded in 1933, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. The IRC in Italy provides essential safety, empowerment, education, livelihood and health services to migrants, refugees and asylum seekers. Our programs operate across Italy, including in Trieste, Milan, Rome, Turin and various locations in Sicily and Calabria, with a strong focus on supporting the most vulnerable populations, such as women and children.

Position Summary

The Editorial Officer will be a key member of the Refugee.Info Italy project team. Refugee.Info offers asylum-seekers, refugees, and migrants in Italy accurate, timely, and useful information on legal rights, essential procedures, and services. Based on a peer to peer approach, we generate and disseminate information based on communities' needs, equipping people to make informed decisions on the issues that matter most to them. As part of the Refugee.Info Italy team, the Editorial Officer will lead the platform's editorial line, drive the information campaign on the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum, track legal procedures and services relevant to refugees and migrants in Italy, produce and update multimedia content, produce analytics and maintain the Refugee.Info Italy Facebook page and website.

Responsibilities:

Content creation and editorial line

• Develop bespoke, engaging multimedia content for Refugee.Info Italy digital platforms, applying Signpost editorial standards (client-centred framing, rights stated as entitlements, clear next steps).

• Lead the creation and implementation of the information campaign on the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum, including the dedicated site section and related content.

• Work with the R.I. Project Manager and the R.I. Moderation Lead and moderators to identify information needs, develop and implement an editorial calendar, and plan ads campaigns.

• Research training opportunities, courses, and initiatives relevant to migrants and refugees for publication on Refugee.Info channels.

• Under the supervision of the R.I. Project Manager, manage and maintain the website and social media channels of Refugee.Info Italy.

• Build audiences for ads, promote content through ads campaigns, and maintain a solid online presence.

• Coordinate with the Signpost technical and development team to ensure the smooth operation and development of Refugee.Info platforms.

• Participate in R.I., IRC Italy and Signpost team meetings.
   

Social Media and Web Analyst  

• Analyse Refugee.Info social media growth, engagement, and audience behaviour using analytical tools, and keep editorial teams updated.

• Produce quarterly KPIs reports, monitor web and social media KPIs, flag critical issues, and recommend improvements to the R.I. editorial teams' digital and marketing strategy.

• Monitor Google Analytics, Zendesk Explore, and Meta/Facebook analytics data to draw insights.
   

Requirements:

• Degree in communication, development communication, social sciences, law, or a related field.

• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.

• High proficiency in technology and software (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Professional, Google products, social media platforms).

• Proficiency in infographic software and/or experience in graphic design.

• At least 2 years of experience in the field of asylum and migration, media and communications, preferably with an NGO.

• Knowledge of services, procedures, and legal frameworks relevant to the migration and asylum context in Italy.

• Excellent command of Italian and English, both spoken and written.

• Strong collaborator with effective interpersonal and analytical skills, able to work seamlessly across cultures and organizational units.

• Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Genuine commitment to migration, asylum, and protection issues.

• Ability to work remotely as part of a multicultural team distributed across Italy.

This position is expected to end on August 23, 2027.

Compensation: (Annual Compensation: €14,400). Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget.  Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
