Key Responsibilities:

The SharePoint Platform Engineer is responsible for the governance, optimization, and continuous improvement of SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 collaboration services. The role focuses on building scalable business applications, workflow automation, custom integrations, and user-centric collaboration solutions that improve productivity, content management, and employee experience.


Working closely platform administrators, and digital workplace experience team, the role translates business requirements into effective low-code, no-code, and custom-developed solutions using SharePoint Online, Power Platform, Microsoft Graph, SPFx, PowerShell, and other Microsoft 365 technologies.


The position combines solution development, workflow automation, platform customization, integration development, and continuous improvement while ensuring solutions remain secure, maintainable, scalable, and aligned with enterprise governance standards.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Platform Administration & Governance 

  • Perform tenant-level configuration, governance enforcement, platform optimization, and operational administration activities. 

  • Implement, and maintain secure permission architectures, including SharePoint groups, Microsoft 365 Groups, role-based access controls, and inheritance models. 

  • Identify, remediate, and govern orphaned sites, unmanaged collaboration spaces, and non-compliant configurations. 

  • Develop, maintain, and enforce SharePoint governance standards, operational procedures, templates, and platform guardrails. 

 

Information Architecture & Content Management 

  • Design and implement best-practice information architecture using metadata, managed metadata (Term Store), content types, site columns, and modern SharePoint capabilities. 

  • Promote the use of columns, views, metadata navigation, and dynamic content presentation over traditional folder-based approaches. 

  • Review and optimize existing sites, document libraries, lists, and content structures to improve usability, adoption, and search effectiveness. 

  • Establish standards for document management, version control, content lifecycle management, retention, and single-source-of-truth practices. 

  • Perform site reviews and document governance reviews to improve content quality, relevance, compliance, and user experience. 

 

Workflow Automation & Business Solutions 

  • Design, implement, and support workflow automation solutions using SharePoint Lists, Power Automate, Forms alternatives, business rules, and modern Microsoft 365 capabilities. 

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to streamline and automate manual operational processes. 

  • Develop and maintain scalable low-code and no-code solutions that improve business efficiency and reduce operational overhead. 

  • Support enterprise workflows and custom solutions while ensuring compliance with governance and support standards. 

  • Evaluate business requirements and recommend the most appropriate Microsoft 365 solution while minimizing unnecessary custom development. 

 

Integration & Solution Support 

  • Support integrations between SharePoint Online, Power Platform, Microsoft Graph, and approved enterprise applications. 

  • Administer service principals, application registrations, API permissions, and integration security controls. 

  • Support Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) processes including environment management, deployment governance, release management, and operational support. 

  • Maintain operational controls and monitoring practices for integrations, workflows, and custom applications. 

  • Work closely with other developers to ensure alignment between front-end solutions, platform architecture, governance, and operational requirements. 

 

Automation, Scripting & Continuous Improvement 

  • Develop and maintain PowerShell, PnP PowerShell, Microsoft Graph PowerShell, and automation scripts to improve operational efficiency, governance, reporting, and administration. 

  • Support advanced SharePoint capabilities including JSON formatting, view formatting, form customization, site templates, and platform automation. 

  • Monitor platform health, usage patterns, adoption metrics, and performance indicators, implementing proactive optimization initiatives. 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex platform, permissions, compliance, workflow, integration, and automation issues. 


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Strong Microsoft 365 administration expertise.

  • Advanced SharePoint Online administration and governance knowledge.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Graph, Power Platform, SPFx, and PowerShell automation.

 

Required Professional Experience:

  • Strong expertise in Microsoft 365 administration, including SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 Admin Center. 

  • Advanced knowledge of SharePoint Online governance, site administration, permissions architecture, and content management. 

  • Experience with Power Platform, workflow automation, and business process optimization. 

  • Experience with PowerShell, PnP PowerShell, Microsoft Graph PowerShell, and automation scripting. 

  • Understanding of Microsoft Graph APIs, application registrations, service principals, and integration security. 

  • Knowledge of SharePoint information architecture, metadata management, Term Store, content types, and document governance. 

  • Experience implementing Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) practices and environment management strategies. 

  • Experience with JSON formatting, SPFx, SharePoint customization, site templates, and modern SharePoint capabilities. 

  • Knowledge of compliance, retention, auditing, and information governance practices within Microsoft 365. 

  • Preferred Experience,  Knowledge and/or other Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience developing and supporting SharePoint Online and Microsoft 365 solutions in a complex enterprise environment. 

  • Strong experience with Power Platform, SharePoint Framework (SPFx), Microsoft Graph, and PowerShell automation. 

  • Demonstrated experience delivering business solutions, information architecture, governance, and process automation initiatives while working closely with business stakeholders.
