Job Description
Overview of the role and responsibilities
The consultant will contribute to enhancing TrainForTrade's implementation of activities and to strengthen different means of activities and communication to reach out to more stakeholders and partners involved in ports, trade statistics related activities.

Under the supervision of the Chief of the Human Resource Development (HRD) Section/ TrainForTrade, the consultant perform the following tasks: Port Management Programme 1. Liaise with local instructors and focal points of the English and French Port Management networks, to organise the agendas and coordinate the training activities at national level. Undertake field mission as required. 2. Assist in the organization and participate as jury member in the final dissertations in Mauritania (July) and in other countries of the English and French network as needed. 3. Conduct research and analysis of relevant data on international trade and ports to contribute to the co-drafting of UNCTAD's flagship publication "Review of Maritime Transport" (RMT) and TrainForTrade’s yearly Port Performance Scorecard (PPS) and other indicators (June-August) and editing of the chapter. 4. Prepare letters, emails, and invitations to experts and stakeholders, and follow-up on participants’ registration. 5. Draft final report of activities and produce articles and other content for UNCTAD’s and TrainForTrade’s communication, following UN gender inclusive language (https://www.un.org/en/gender-inclusive-language/guidelines.shtml) and promote stakeholders’ engagement and buy-in through the effective use of communication instruments.
An advanced university degree, Master, in economics, marketing, public policy or related field is required At least 20 months of work experience in research activities related to economic and statistics policies, trade related matters and/or project management is required Experience with economic and policy research, with statistics procedures and liaising with national and international stakeholders within an international organization is required Experience drafting reports and official communications is desirable Experience with TrainForTrade methodologies will be an advantage. Experience with port-related matters will be an advantage.
